Decent little ride the full 8. Nothing too difficult on the red Nice mix of terrain, obstacles, ups and downs. Need to visit Hopeline whilst there too.

I was blown away with the fun I had and risks I took, with scenery to die for.

Review:
This was my 1st time off the canal toe path, being 49 and in good shape. Riding on my 1992 pro flex beast thought it best to go on the red route, weeeeee hahaha aah I've never laughed as much on my bike. I took my 14 year old son whom like me is ultra novice on mtb. We spent a demanding 5 n half hours doing the red 8 loop. It's about getting to the end at the moment not how fast it can be done in. We have been 2 more times since 1st visit and have enjoyed it more each time..I love the variation in terrain , and the option to try section of the black run with out leaving my son stranded on the red.

Summary:
Gisburn Red in Disrepair and Worst Cafe ever.

Review:
Rode the Red today and found the trail to be in a worrying state of disrepair. There were large rocks that had come away from pretty much the whole technical uphill gradients, overhanging branches hitting in your face throughout and poorly waymarked in a couple of places. They had started some smoothing work at the latter end of the red once you'd got up nearer the end but as it's pretty hardcore anyhow, you don't want to be dabbing because of loose rocks everywhere.
This route has the potential to be one of the best in the U.K. as it's technical sections and variety really set it apart. Sadly, the cafe is appalling..with a meagre selection of cakes that were uncovered and as such, crawling with flies, probably the worst coffee ever made and with old canteen style seating and tables.
Did the Blue at the weekend with a new MTBiker and this wasn't bad..just a tad short and nothing to really challenge you if you're used to the red/black routes.

Summary:
No Flow on the red route

Review:
Went on xmas eve day with my friend James and we are both seasoned Mountain Bikers. We Found the red route had not a lot flow to it ( there was a couple of sections that flowed ok). It was very rocky and unfinished in places(or worn badly). We both found as well in some places that random boulders seemed to be put right in the middle of the trail to climb over as we were getting some speed up for no apparent reason and not allowing any flow. Hully gully also is in need of major repair work. Very disappointed with the whole experience and not somewhere I'll be rushing back to. Maybe I've been spoilt by the Altura trail and Coed Y Brenin. Theres definitely a lot of room for improvement on this trail.
