Hard won rewards but are they worth it?

Review:
Really good route if a little long. Big section in the middle that's a bit nondescript with long climbs followed by short descents. There are some great features though but you tend past them in a heart beat.

Good All Round route to test ability

Review:
Went to Dalby Forrest for the first time a few weekends ago and I was not disappointed!

This was my first ride out on some proper forrest trails and we did the Red Route all the way round starting from the Visitor Centre.

This was very good fun as the route as some good variety for all riders!

the fitter you are the more you will like it. my first visit I hated it, dixons hollow was good fun but the rest apart from a couple of short sections were terrible. I was on a cheap hardtail.
went back earlier this year on a full susser and lot more fitness and did the whole red trail (and the black boardwalk) and whilst many of the bits I really hated are still there I didn't push up anything and did enjoy most of the downhill.
i understand there are ways of linking the best downhill bits together and miss out some of the long climbing.
i enjoyed the world cup course and can't believe how fast they go with such high saddles over such technical stuff.
there is some really good single track that needs to be pedalled, great fun.
IMO the cost of parking is way too much and puts me off.
it's a great trail to tick off the list but I won't be rushing back any time soon.
It may sound silly but if a group of you are planning a visit it would be well worth finding out if there are any guided rides you can buy, I think a few quid from each rider to pay for a guide would significantly enhance the experience.

Excuse me can you tell me when the trail goes down?

Review:
I am by no means an XC fitness rider but I've been riding red, black, dh etc for years so I am pretty fit. We rode the red and black route at dalby today to see what it was like and personally I don't think ive ever been more frustrated by a trail. I fully understand the term 'earn your turns' but dalby makes you work so hard with up, up , up again and up again for the smallest downs ever. The downhill trails mostly have bits of up in them so without a dropper post you get caught having to pedal on the very few downs there are. The red does has some good single track in and some levely berms but the majority of the day is just either massive long fire roads or really dull slight inclines. I summed this place up as gravity defying, managing to ride for 37km uphill yet never managing to lose any height. Places like Llandegla in wales etc are long trails but are up and down, unlike dalby. If you are an XC fitness rider then you'll love it. If you like to mix ups and downs you'll hate it.

I spoke to loads of locals and asked them what they thought and every response was "its a good fitness loop" or "yeah its a total slog"...says it all

GOOD HARD RIDE

Review:
Rode Dalby red for the first time and massivly enjoyed it. Some really good fast downhill runs with some amazing switch backs (bailed hard on one of these) All round good ride although high level of fitness needed if smashing through fast.
