Ae Forest Mountain Bike Trail Center is a premier mountain biking destination that is part of the renowned 7stanes network in Scotland. Riders will find a superb variety of trails graded as green, blue, and red to accommodate different skill levels. An expert-rated downhill section and skills area are also provided for advancing riders seeking more challenging terrain. The Center offers world-class mountain biking opportunities on its diverse multi-use trail network.

Car parking is available at the trailhead and at the café. There is a pay and display machine at the café car park as well as at the Naze car park. Car parking costs £4 per day.

Ae Valley Route

Grade: Green (9.0 km)

This mountain biking trail is suitable for first-timers and families. It features mostly easy singletrack and forest roads with only one short, steep climb. Riders are treated to beautiful views of the Water of Ae from the viewpoint at the trail's end, making for a scenic and enjoyable ride.

Larch Blue Route

Grade: Blue: (13.5 km)

This moderate forest route is well-suited for families seeking a more immersive forest experience. The route combines forest roads and singletrack trails to provide deeper access to the forest interior. Riders will enjoy views of the Water of Ae waterway alongside an enjoyable ride experience traversing varied terrain.

The Shredder

Grade: Red: (1.0 km)

The Shredder downhill run provides an excellent introduction to mountain biking for newcomers. The trail incorporates various technical features that allow riders to test their skills based on experience level. Each obstacle on the course offers a more straightforward alternative, enabling individuals to select the option most appropriate to their ability.

Ae Line Trail

Grade: Red (24.0 km)

This countryside route offers an adventurous experience. The descent at the end features numerous jumps that provide exhilarating terrain. Throughout the cross-country trail, riders can expect to navigate jumps, drop-offs and tabletop features capable of delighting even the most seasoned bikers. Those seeking a more leisurely pace may wish to take the trail at a slower speed, while experienced mountain bikers have opportunities to test their skills on more challenging sections with substantial air time.

Ae Downhill

Grade: Double-black (1.6 km)

This trail features a downhill route with technical rocky terrain and elevated drop-offs suited for experienced riders seeking a rigorous test of skills. The trail begins with a steep and rock-laden climb followed by an off-camber descent intended to challenge even veteran riders. The terrain has been designed to provide a demanding experience over varied and unforgiving terrain.

Turn off the A701 at Ae Bridgend, following signs to Forest of Ae. You’ll reach Ae village after about 2 miles (3km). Turn right at the Forest of Ae sign at the crossroads just beyond the village, then follow signs to the car park.
