Dyfi Bike Park – Mountain Bike Downhill Trails in North Wales
Dyfi Bike Park is one of the UK’s most iconic mountain bike downhill destinations, located in Esgair Forest near Machynlleth, North Wales. Designed and built by Dan Atherton and the Dyfi trail crew, the park offers steep, fast and highly technical downhill MTB trails, all served by a dedicated 4×4 uplift service.
Set across more than 650 acres of forest, Dyfi Bike Park is aimed at experienced riders looking for challenging terrain, big features and long, adrenaline‑fuelled descents. With runs lasting 5–10 minutes, it has become a must‑ride venue for downhill and enduro riders visiting Wales.
Downhill Trails at Dyfi Bike Park
Dyfi Bike Park features a constantly evolving network of professionally built downhill tracks. Trails are regularly updated, maintained and reshaped to provide world‑class riding conditions.
Lovey Dyfi (Red)
A new, mellower red track - a flow trail that follows the western valley edge before connecting to 50 Hits' bottom section.
Super Swooper (Red)
Ride Super Swooper's ridgeline for spectacular valley views and potential RAF jet sightings in the Dyfi Valley below. Five minutes of ultimate biking excitement!
Original DH (Red)
Experience our reimagined Original DH featuring a fresh larch wood section creating a longer loop toward the saw mill. Start on Super Swooper with your choice of finishing on Swooper or the more challenging Racetrack. Enjoy approximately 7 minutes of riding designed to elevate your skills.
Cedar Rapids (Red)
Navigate Lovey Dyfi's tight berms to experience Cedar Rapids' fast flow. Ideal for practicing corner speed generation or as your first run. One of the park's most relaxed and picturesque areas.
Turns in the Ferns (Red)
Turns in the Ferns is a new red-graded, lower mountain track. Perfect for quick laps to start your day or wind down after intense riding, especially during harsh winter weather at higher elevations.
Race Track (Double Black)
Named by the World Cup racers who use this 5 minute track to train, this track is high speed all the way with some of the most fun corners on the mountain.
Slab Track (Triple Black)
The Slab Track, situated under the massive ridgeline with exceptional landscape views, features unavoidable obstacles with no alternative routes. Named for its natural bedrock formations, it provides a technically challenging alternative to the race track's upper section.
Insta360 – FlowState (Single Black)
FlowState, inspired by a natural bowl in the East of the Park, is designed for optimal riding flow while offering scenic Dyfi backdrops that look exceptional both during rides and on camera.
50 Hits (Single Black)
50 Hits starts in the path of the RAF Low Fly Zone, with over 8 mins of flowing table tops this track is best suited to Enduro bikes.
El Hippo (Single Black)
El Hippo is our Lower Mountain trail, with a start above the old Dyfi Timber sawmill. At half the length of our full trails it’s the perfect track to warm up, warm down or for party laps with the mates! Once you’re up to speed you can ride El Hippo in two and a half minutes linking in with the bottom of 50 Hits jump line to shred the last few tables.
Fire in the Booth (Triple Black)
This track features unavoidable obstacles without alternate routes. It's characterised by short, steep natural terrain. Fire in the Booth provides a challenging off-piste alternative that branches left from El Hippo, leading back to the parking area.
Getting There
Dyfi Bike Park is located just outside Machynlleth, North Wales, with access from the A487. The park is well signposted locally, but GPS navigation is recommended for first‑time visitors.
