Description

Dalby Forest Trail Centre is situated on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park and is home to some brilliant MTB singletrack trails, downhill routes and a bikepark.

With Red and Black Graded XC trails that make up a world cup standard XC loop, a good level of fitness is required but if you dig deep the rewards are worth it! The downhill trail is a short standalone trail with jumps drops and technical riding maintained by singletraction. The Pace Bikepark is a 3 acre site packed with north shore sections, jumps and a 4x track. There's a little bit of everything at Dalby!

Cycling and mountain biking trails at Dalby Forest

Ellerburn Trail (Green 4.5km)

Starting at Dalby Courtyard near the Visitor Center, the Ellerburn Trail offers an accessible pathway for disabled cyclists, wheelchair users, and walkers. The trail follows Ellerburn beck and returns through Low Dalby valley, making it ideal for children learning to bike, parents with strollers, and dog walkers.

Adderstone Trail (Green - 19.3km)

A scenic plateau trail circling Dalby Forest's upper reaches. This extended route includes Crosscliff Wood viewpoint and Jerry Noddle with stunning moorland vistas. The Givendale Head road segment adds open countryside views. This accessible bike tour showcases Dalby Forest's finest features and is suitable for most skill levels.

Red Trail (34.3km)

Expert-level mountain bike route featuring flowing single track, technical elements, and challenging terrain. Begin in Low Dalby, ascend through the forest via Adderstone to Crosscliff Viewpoint for spectacular vistas. Return through Dalby Forest Drive and White Cliff Rigg, enjoying MTB features throughout.

Jerry Noddle Trail (Red 11.1km)

Experience this fast-flowing trail featuring spectacular views. Starting near Dixon's Hollow car park, tackle the challenging Medusa's Drop with its zigzags and berms, enjoy stunning Langdale vistas from Dalby Forest's northern edge, and traverse open countryside on Dalby Forest Drive. An ideal route for mountain biking enthusiasts.

Newclose Rigg Trail (Red 9.6km)

Experience rapid single track through diverse woodland featuring rock formations, steep drops, and large boulders. Begin at Low Dalby and navigate hilly chicanes leading to rolling single track. Technical climbs reward you with quick descents back to the starting point. For an early exit, follow the escape route from section marker 12 via Housedale Rigg.

Riggs and Dales Trail (Red 13.8km)

Challenging singletrack featuring technical climbs and descents. Beginning on Low Dalby's Jubilee Blue trail, the route transitions to Adderstone Green trail and ultimately the Red Route through Housedale Rigg, Heck Dale, and Flax Dale. Offers an excellent workout, stunning views, and diverse terrain.

Jubilee Blue Trail (Blue 11km)

This route features off-road sections and flowing berms through Low Dalby, Snever Dale, and Flax Dale. It includes a steep, challenging descent with zigzags and berms near the end, all while surrounded by forest and the scenic Jubilee Plantation.

UCI World Cup Trail (Black 6.4km)

This elite technical course features steep climbs and challenging descents, including the rapid Medusa's Drop. Starting at Adderstone's Field, the route passes High Staindale and returns near the starting point at Dixon's Hollow, incorporating sections of the Red Route. A memorable but demanding experience.

Skills Area (Orange)

Located by Low Dalby on the Ellerburn Trail, the bike park offers technical loops from green to red grading to assess your riding level. It's ideal for pre-ride warm-ups.
