the cable u can c is a braided gear cable the brake cable is on the other side as with all common bikes!!

depends how much has been rubbed off and how well maintained the rear hub freewheel has been coz spin doctor hubs have a tendancy to rot from the inside out but for £50 dunt sound to bad!
