Wharncliffe Woods Mountain Bike Trails

Wharncliffe Woods Mountain Bike Trails just North of Sheffield is a popular destination for mountain bikers.

There are no official waymarked trails in Wharncliffe Woods but there are numerous downhill runs with some challenging natural trails making good use of the steep terrain.

An old 16km technical cross-country trail exists in woods, though it remains in poor condition. During dry weather, most sections become rideable. To access this trail, exit the rear of the parking area and locate the trailhead immediately on your right.

To find the trails, start at the "Top carpark" on woodhead road, enter the woods via the green barriers, shortley down the trail you will pass a second barrier. You have two options here, take the XC trail that leeds to the top of the Downhills or slowly make your way down the fire roads.

Greno Woods can be found across the road Wharncliffe Woods which has one main loop which a fully surfaced mountain bike trail consisting of three downhill trails that are connected by fireroad climbs.
