Shepton Mallet Pump Track

Shepton Mallet Pump Track is a surfaced cycling circuit at West Shepton Playing Fields, off Old Wells Road in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. Also known as the West Shepton BMX Track, it sits alongside a separate skatepark within a community recreation ground.

The track forms a continuous loop, linking rolling features with banked corners. Riders can practise generating momentum by pumping through the changes in gradient, developing their timing, balance and cornering technique. The town council confirms that the BMX track has been improved and extended to create a full-loop run.

The riding surface is tarmac, with grass separating the track sections. It is a compact local riding facility rather than a full-size BMX race venue, offering opportunities for repeated laps and skills practice.

The wider playing fields include football goals and approximately four acres of grass. The neighbouring skatepark provides a separate riding area with ramps, ledges and rails.

Access is from Old Wells Road. Check the track’s surface and features before riding, follow on-site signs and give other users space.
