I got a crudcatcher mudguard from halfords, with the red clamp and it's now get nobby nics on with white stripe and a red qr seatclamp :)

Nice bike - Carrera are getting to be really good bikes for not a lot of cash.
Try a Conti rubber Queen 2.2 on the front for starters - it will give loads of grip and confidence and speed you up!!Try an X King on the back - rapid comfy rubber.
