SRAM is proud to continue their involvement with one of the world’s top mountain bike parks. Located in British Columbia, Canada, Whistler Mountain Bike Park has over 125 miles of lift-serviced trails.
Every rental bike is equipped with a SRAM drivetrain. Whistler operates a rental fleet of more than 150 bikes. While they’re primarily downhill bikes, they also maintain a cross-country and junior bike inventory. Also, the 50 guides that patrol the park all ride on SRAM components.
Rob McSkimming, VP Business Development for Whistler Blackcomb said, “We are stoked to have SRAM continue its sponsorship of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Many of the 200+ guide and rental bikes rack up more than 1,000,000 vertical feet each summer and SRAM components have been more than up to the task of keeping this fleet turning day in and day out.”
Opening of the park is May 20, 2006 and closing October 9, 2006 – weather depending. An unofficial opening could be as soon as April 29, 2006 for weekends only until May 20.
To round out the North American park program, SRAM will support two premium U.S. locations. On the east coast, SRAM will sponsor Diablo Freeride Park located in Vernon, New Jersey. On the west coast Mammoth Mountain Bike Park, in Mammoth Lakes, California, will also be a SRAM partner.

The Sandland & Co Freeride Tour continues this month with the next stop being at the excellent trails in Abbeyford Woods - Okehampton on the 26th March.
The tour organised by Balfa.co.uk team freerider Elbry Sandland is an idea to get all the local freeriders and to meet up and have a blast for the day, and in doing so help promote each spot by getting more riders to be part of the local freeride movement in each area.
After the success of the first stop at Haldon where in the region of 50 riders turned up to check out the trails, it's set to be a great event.
It looks like the guys have been working hard to build some new stuff for the tour, and making a real social event of it with a barbeque and soft drinks planned.
So spread the word!

Trond started at the age of 15 years with trials riding and then got into DH racing. But he always had most fun jumping and doing tricks, so it was a natural change for him to do dirt jumping and freeride as well.
After rocking with great performance at different global freeride events such as the Adidas Slopestyle, the Whistler Crankworx and the Red Bull District Ride, the bike scene got more conscious of Trond and had him already in their mind among the world’s best riders. More and more companies got aware of Trond’s talent and meanwhile most of his sponsors for 2006 are fixed.
Trond has just signed with Specialized bikes. Trond is stoked: “Specialized was the first brand that came in my mind when I thought of a new bike and they got bikes that I always wanted to ride. I love the P3 for street and dirt riding and the SX trail is awesome for the slopestyles, but also for a freeride-enduro trip. I used to ride DH races and I would love to do more big mountain riding, the Demo 8 is perfect for that.”
His sponsors are not only well known, but when image and quality meet, those brands are on the top. Besides Specialized, Trond is supported by Marzocchi, Oakley, Fizik, Giro, Magura, Sixsixone and DaKine.
Trond is spending this spring in Munich, but he’ll be travelling lots around central Europe and North America to go to events, photo- and film shootings. In March, he was shooting in Switzerland for the European Freeride movie "Evermore" (www.evermore.ch).
Kevin Franks (Specialized Global Marketing) about their new gun:
"We are proud that we gained Trond for Specialized. He stands for progressive freeride in Europe. We are looking forward to his first appearance at SeaOtter in California. “
