Jon Whyte – father of the full-suspension mountain bike – has retired from the cycle industry. The 50-year-old engineering guru has hung up his trusty pedal spanner and is moving on after eleven years in the bike trade.

In the final race of the season the Kona Les Gets Factory team bid a fitting farewell to the 2006 World Cup Season. The finale was held in Schladming, Austria and both Moseley and Tatarkovic had a plenty on the line with Moseley fighting to keep the World Cup lead and Tatarkovic to stay hunt for the medals in the 4X World Cup overall.

e.thirteen components’s sponsored riders dominated by winning all 4 gravity events at the last World Cup event, held in Schladming, Austria. Reigning World Champion, Sam Hill, continued his winning ways by taking the downhill title in Austria. The Monster/Iron Horse/Mad Catz rider obliterated the field with a 5.51 time gap in front of 2nd place.

Heading into the UCI World Cup Finals in the charming Austrian village of Schladming, Santa Cruz Syndicate’s Steve Peat lead the points race by 178 points over Greg Minnaar. Mathematically, Peat was assured of a top two finish, but by no means felt he had a lock on the series overall. Minnaar was bringing his best game to the table and was going to challenge Peat to the end.
