Join the local cycling community to celebrate the official opening of the brand-new Twechar Pump Track at the Twechar Healthy Living & Enterprise Centre in East Dunbartonshire.
Taking place on Sunday 6 September 2026 from 9am, the grand opening is a free event for all ages and abilities, with a full morning of riding, BMX action and activities planned around the new Velosolutions pump track.
The event will welcome some special guests, with Sir Chris Hoy among the riders passing through Twechar as part of Scottish Cycling's Tour de 4. Hoy is expected to be one of the first riders through at around 9am, so you'll need to arrive early if you want to catch him.
There will also be plenty of action on the new track, with Velosolutions BMX jump riders and stunt riders showing what the facility is capable of, while Scottish Cycling will be on site with its Rock Up & Ride programme.
The new 240-metre facility includes a 118m main asphalt pump track, an 80m advanced jump line and a separate 42m beginner loop, providing riding opportunities for everyone from young children and first-time riders through to experienced riders.
Don't have a bike? Bike and helmet hire will be available on the day, with 15 bikes in children's and adult sizes. Secure equipment storage, a café serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and treats, and toilet facilities will also be available on site.
The opening celebrates a major community project for Twechar and is a chance to come along, ride the new track and see the facility in action for the first time.
Entry is free and everyone is welcome – just rock up and ride.
