Within a mile of the chocolate box pretty village of Thornton Le Dale lies a vast expanse of wild beautiful forest, moorland and semi-wilderness that few venture into forming the ultimate setting for our new Sportive.
Gravel and X-Bikes are the most suitable machines for this course but short travel XC Mountain Bikes and E-Bikes will also be perfectly suited (if you prefer to ride a long travel rig then that’s up to you- all welcome!). Hybrids could also be used particularly on the Short Course- just take care on the many descents!
Thornton Dale is a hub for the eastern region of the North York Moors National Park and is the gateway into the massive National Park Forest complex of Dalby, Wykeham, Langdale and Cropton plus the high wild moors which stretch right across to the coast. Starting in the centre of this busy village it couldn’t be anymore convenient with its pubs, shops, camping and of course Dalby Bike Barn, Hip N Square and Pace Cycles your hosts for this event.
The Top of the Moors Gravel Sportive mixes a relaxed and fun ethos with the challenge of trails ranging from forest tracks, smooth and flowing moorland singletrack through to seemingly endless technically and physically challenging gravel.
With a choice of three distances, professional tech’ support, regular food and refreshment points plus the comfort of knowing the organisers are the same as the UKs premier Top of the Rock this new venue promises to become a classic sportive in the calendar.
