Last year we started an annual charity race to help those in need. The 2014 charity event was to raise money for Cancer research and we were able to collectively raise £2844.17.
This Years annual charity race at PORC is to help raise funds for Fight for Sight, which is one of the charities leading the way to help find a cure for Stargardt's disease
One of our local Riders, Rhys Jenner (age 18) was diagnosed with Stargardt's 3 years ago. This is (at present) an incurable eye disease that will eventually affect all of Rhys' central vision, thus leaving him legally blind within the next few years.
Although a rare condition, affecting 1 in 20-30,000, it is actually the most common form of juvenile blindness. Scientists do believe there will be a cure within the next 5-10 years. so every bit of money raised will help speed up the research process therefore helping Rhys and everybody else suffering with this disease.
