Trail Building Starts Soon at Aston Hill

10 October 2025  |

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring both Aston Hill Bike Park and Whippendell Woods to life, and we’re now entering one of the most exciting phases of the journey.

Aston Hill

We’re now preparing to begin trail construction at Aston Hill during the second half of October.

Before breaking ground, we’ll be completing an aerial topographical survey of the entire bike park area as required by Forestry England. This is being carried out in collaboration with Team UAV, who bring extensive experience from projects including Revolution Bike Park. Their 3D land model will help us visualise terrain, drainage and line options before the machines even start moving.

Through your incredible support memberships, donations and encouragement we’ve now raised over £40,000.

That funding has already gone toward essential pre-build costs: insurance, health and safety planning, rent, survey fees and operator training. By carrying out the construction work ourselves, we’re saving over 50% compared to using external trail contractors without compromising on design or quality.

New ways to get involved

We’ve updated our membership and donation platform to give everyone new ways to support the rebuild:

6 Month Membership – £100
Only 10 available at this price. A shorter term way to join and help drive the Aston Hill build forward.

Recurring Donations
Support the project monthly from as little as a few pounds — every bit goes straight to trail building.

Community Membership (Coming Soon)
A low-cost way to join Bike Park Chilterns, get involved with volunteering and trail development, and enjoy exclusive member benefits, including discounts on day passes and events once Aston Hill opens.

Whippendell Woods

Whippendell Woods: Build phase almost complete

Work is nearing completion on our first new trail area at Whippendell Woods, Watford.

This project had to take priority due to the timing of the grant funding we received to build it, and it’s already taking shape beautifully.

The trails here will offer a free-to-access, all abilities mountain bike area that’s built to last, combining community access with great riding opportunities for all ages and abilities.

Completion is expected shortly, and what we’ve learned through this build will directly feed into the Aston Hill re-development.
