Lauf Gritfest returns - bigger and better

Entries have opened to Lauf Gritfest, the UK’s Premier Gravel Race, taking place over the weekend of June 16th to 18th 2023, with continued support from Lauf Cycling allowing the event to grow and be better than ever, with even more included.

Lauf Gritfest, which takes place from a new base in the small village of Rhandirmwyn in the Cambrian Mountains, has a format that makes the most of the riding with rally-style timed special stages and untimed liaison sections that allow for some downtime in between.

Previously a two-day event, the 2023 edition will include an optional prologue on Friday evening as part of the entry fee. The full weekend will include seven timed stages, which will account for roughly 40% of the total distance covered.

Icelandic gravel bike manufacturer has returned as title sponsors and has committed to supporting the event for the next three years.

“As a bike brand with a focus on gravel, we at Lauf seek to partner with and sponsor gravel races that capture the essance of gravel riding. Gritfest fits that category for us 100%. Riding gravel in Wales is one of our highlights of the year, and what is more perfect than a gravel stage race with great people and even greater course in the beautiful countryside of Wales” - Ólafur Thorarenser, Marketing Manager Lauf Cycling

Lauf Gritfest has become a firm favourite among both racers and riders; in addition to the riding, the entry fee includes a weekend of entertainment and a full package, making it a fantastic weekend for all. Camping, live music, and other extras including a tug-of-war contest are all included. Since its inception in 2018, the event has consistently sold out and grown in popularity.

Race Director Matthew Page "I've been lucky to have competed in some of the world's best cycling event, but they've also made me realise how superb the riding is on my doorstep, and it's a pleasure to be able to show others the breathtaking scenery and perfect gravel trails the Tywi valley and Cambrian Mountains have to offer. With the support from Lauf we can continue to develop the event, and make it World Class in both the riding and experience on offer"

Entries open at 7am November 1st, with limited places available.
