nah mate its was more the location on the split rather than the severity of it which made it bad basically right on the end of it where it links in to your shoulder

probs a good call on her part to be honest, i wish id listened to them. my shoulder plays up in winter a fair bit.

yeah mate it will help boost your confidence especially after a few falls in it and you realise how much it has saved you. your injury will take a fair while, i split mine right on the tip of my shoulder in the past (the worst place) and it took around 8 weeks to heal. i started riding after 6 weeks and as a result it healed abnormally which is not good, so do listen to their advice and don't jump on the bike sooner than they say even if it feels ok.

i wear my body armour on pretty much every single dh ride. if i am just going jumping/street riding i don't bother. its just leg armour, gloves and skid lid. I even leave the full face at home for ease of movement and visibility. if u plan on riding serious dh then get body armour though it does give you a confidence boost knowing you can come off and walk away fine which you will see after your 1st big spill wearing it.I have had huge holes ripped in my tshirt from the bars spearing me and was glad that the chest plate took the impact underneath it and not my ribs.

not really looked at them to be honest. the bone you broke is the easiest bone to break in the human body, its always the 1st to give. in most cases armour will still not protect against such a hit as they dont have collar bone protection as such. they do pad your shoulders, upper arm, elbows, lower arm, chest, back and kidneys. they are more about protecting your organs and spine, rather than bones. and to stop you getting impaled on something basically.
