Summary:
too much fireroad

Review:
ok so not a great start to Dalbeattie as theres no visitor centre, only a small car park and a hose.

Overall I was left a bit disappointed by the Hardrock trail. According to the map its 65% singletrack which to me means 35% fireroad - a bit too much for my liking. There was far too much uphill and the long twisty singletrack descent never seemed to come, which is a shame because what downhill singletrack there was was really fun, especially the rocky sections that characterise the trail and features like The Slab and Twin Sisters.

Possibly the best of the 7stanes!

This has got everything! Techy climbs, fast descents, woodwork and of course the slab! I ride regularly in D&G and this trail centre is always on the itinerary.

worth a visit

Review:
This a very enjoyable trail. the natural slabs popping out all over the place make for very fun drop offs and challenging climbs. There are quite a few fire road sections joining the single track but these are short and sometimes a welcome addition giving you a chance to recover from more intense sections. there are some excellent drop offs here, some quite severe and although I loved the challenge I've done similar ones on some black trails so novices beware

Well Designed & Thought Out

Review:
Rode it in January 2009, then went on to ride Kirroughtree, Ae, Mabie, Glentress and Innerleithen.

Great singletrack for most of the route, this trail has some nice optional black sections throughout it's length providing a good bit of variety. In all instances the black and red rejoin each other further on down the trail (no need to push your bike back up the black sections like I did!). It's not as good as Kirroughtree or Glentress, but is still very worth a visit.

Sweet Route

Review:
We rode this as part of an epic weekend trip taking in 4 of the Stanes, and I'd rate it super high. Its a long ride compared to some of the other red routes around but its all good, a little bit of fire road here and there but a lot of single track, rocks and of course the slabs. All the smaller black add on's are good to test your skills and the rock is grippy even when soaking wet. Go ride it.
