Please do not use Sunnyhurst woods as this is baned and will get us kicked off the moor.
The tracks and trails in this area are unlimited and once you know your way around we have tracks that would make fools of seasond pro riders. We have tracks the kids blast down because they know no different and have been on them all their lives. I have seen pro riders pull up at the sight of some of them. Start points and drop ins and ride offs will follow. Use this link to view unlimited and endless thousands of acers of untouched biking paradise. MAKE SURE YOU CARRY IMPORTANT SPARES. YOU BREAK DOWN HERE AND YOUR GOOSED, YOU CRASH AND THEY TAKE YOU OFF BY HELECOPTER OR BOLTON MOUNTAIN RESCUE.

Me and my mate went up here today after seeing it was a secret location on the trail location we struggled to find it just went onto m61 from bolton continued onto m65 came off at junction four turned onto a666 left, and turned up earnsdale road at the side of co op and parked up there then cycled through the park all the way to the tower, awesome downhill sections didnt take to long either. But def want to keep the location of this trail a secret ;-)

Some technical climbs and rewarding DH sections.

Review:
One of the best mixed terrain short rides I have ever done (about 10 miles), starting at the Sunnyhurst Pub and riding up onto the moors, down Lyon Den into Roddlesworth, up to the Visitor Centre then climb back up to the Tower via a bridle way and a local feature known as the horseshoe. The DH from the top back to the Sunnyhurst Pub is 100% fun. Just watch for trail feature changes after bad weather, nearly come a cropper once or twice.

Did a really nice route taking in all the Reservoir's and the tower. Route can be found in a Blackburn council leaflet: follow this link

http://www.blackburn.gov.uk/upload/pdf/Cycling_around_Blackburn_and_Darwen.pdf

Theres a really good mix of fast and technical downhill and both long and technical climbs. Rocky Bridleways, single track and wide lkoose graqvel tracks. Takes you past the reserviors, through woods and over the moors
Great views from the tower.
Theres an option for a really technical decsent which was beyond my abilities to ride non stop but adds a good challenge into the proceedings.

I really enjoyed this route, and there was plenty of scope to explore and lengthen the route if required.
I personally thought it was better than either of the 2 routes I have done at rivington.

If your local, you have to try it!!

NOTE: Having followed the route as per the leaflet I think it could better to do it the opposite way round.
