Summary:
Great fun and a challange to those that like to ride fast

Review:
Managed to find the trail straight off which is great after a 2 hour drive behind lorries and caravans! Enjoyed my day out at Cli-machx and will add it to list of N Wales rides to do again. I enjoyed being able to do the long down hill section again, missing out the other sections that I did first.
The Beast/Red Dragon at Coed has much more to offer especially the new exceptionally long down hill section that goes on and on.

Cli machx is a good warm up track to those travelling and arriving late afternoon who want to get a ride in before it goes dark. It will give you a warm up for the Red Dragon or the Beast for the next day.

Well Worth The Effort

Review:
Have ridden this trail a couple of times now & will definitely go back in the future. You start with a fire road climb followed by a variety of singletrack descents which have good flow, but do make you work hard to have fun. In between there are fire road climbs. When I visited it was clear there is an active Motocross community in the area, some of which were riding on the Cli-Machx trail, which was doing some damage.

The whole point of coming here is for the final descent. It flows well, has jumps, great berms, just watch for the sharp corner with a big drop off the side. If I'm going to offer slight criticism, then the final few hundred yards of the descent is on fire road, but this is only minor.

Summary:
Enjoyably Different

Review:
Before you start riding this trail, it's worth noting this is very different to all other trail centre riding. I rode it first on 06/07/09, when the conditions were showery to say the least!

Essentially it's a marked cross country route, with no built sections at all. It is well signed, but you do need to look carefully at the signs as some of the route is common with Mach 2. The signs have clearly been in place for a long time as the colours have become bleached & it is sometimes difficult to tell the difference between 2's & 3's.

You start with a gentle road climb, then head off across fields (mostly riding across the grass), then into forestry for a very long fire road climb. Next up is the chute, which came as a very pleasant challenging surprise. It's rocky & due to the low hanging branches combined with the rain & slightly slippery surface made it a real challenge to clean. Following this it's more field crossings to get back to Macynthlleth.

If you like cross country aswell as trail centre riding, then give it a go.

Summary:
The faster you go the better it gets.

Review:
I first rode this a few years back now and was quite taken by it. Only a short loop which does involve the inevitable fire roads however a decent level of fitness will get you round comfotably. The more you can keep in the tank for the last section the better which really isn't trail center surfaces - big rocks, roots, drops, off camber sections, braking ruts, tight switchbacks with no berms etc. A real test and like I say the faster you attack it the more you'll get from it. Get this ride nailed and put a heap of new skills in your arsenal.
