Philips Park Mountain Bike Trails have been built through broadleaved woodland around the edge of the park, taking advantage of existing slopes and features. The new construction is a circular route but the trail will operate at least initially as two loops in a figure of eight configuration, using the main drive through the park to return to the trail head. The North Wood loop will operate in an anti-clockwise direction and the South Wood loop in a clockwise direction. Both loops will be accessed from the trail head at the car park opposite the play area.
There is a link from the Philips trail to another (blue grade) 3 km circuit at Waterdale, built in 2010 and managed by the Forestry Commission. A map showing both trails is available via the download box on the right.

The main entrance to the park is on Park Lane, Whitefield. Cyclists can approach via Park Lane or the cycle route in the Irwell valley.
Please note: Distance is calculated as air distance or "as the crow flies" the most direct route between two points, so the distance by road maybe slightly longer.
