Trail Community

Taken from the fantastic Beyond Hamsterley guide this is an amazing cross country loop that takes in a huge variety of trail surfaces including a fair bit of quiet road.

From Edmundbyers you'll make your way to Blanchland on a 6km stretch of road before climbing up onto the fell, through a small section of Slaley Forest, across some more sublime moorland single track and on to a little place Called Baybridge where you'll be faced with one hell of a tough climb on tarmac up to Edmundbyers Common. You'll be rewarded for the climb many times over with the superb descent back to Edmunbyers. Don't let a stretch of road here and there put you off. This route really is spot on.

Edmundbyers is several miles West of Consett, County Durham. The nearest main road is the A68 and a major landmark is the Derwent Reservoir. The B6306 by the Derwent Reservoir has a layby or two which are perfect for parking vehicles and the road is actually part of the trail. itself.
