Well, well, well, seems the DVD world for mountain biking is growing up. Off come the trainer pants that were endless reincarnations of the same race footage shot to angry music or the endless huckfests of the past and into a new era of films for us riders.
Now you have the quality of the The Collective and Earthed series with something wholly new and wholly British. Hot on the heels of the stunningly good Seasons is a whole new genre of bike films.

Home is about the UK riding scene but realizes that it isn't all about the top ten riders in the country but that the grass roots are interesting too. The film does have a really new and healthy documentary feel to it which is refreshing and while the way it is shot isn’t a huge departure from other films, it is subtly different in a very good way.
It sounds like a cliché but in certain sections, you can really connect with the film in a way you can't with a 60ft huck shot. Some of the shots of guys flowing through the trees really make you realize you too have experienced the same moments in damp dark forest in the UK somewhere. The variety of terrain on offer here really makes you feel like messing around in your own woods isn't really broadening your riding horizons. This really is the ideal winters day 'not going out on bike as its pishing with rain' DVD. It feels like the warm blanket of the DVD world!
Really well shot with some original music, it really hits the spot and makes you realize that sub categories of the sport are all well and good but we are all riders at the end of the day XC. It's a film about riding bikes, simple as that.
My favourite bit was the world champs at Fort Bill. I have to admit to being disappointed with Earthed 5’s coverage of the event. Home not only covers the event well but really reflects the atmosphere of Ruridh winning the junior gold. Anyone who was there will agree that the place went off like a bomb and Home comes the closest so far to reflecting this.
It's a new genre and I personally look forward to Home mk2 that takes in Wales or other riding scenes in the UK to further showcase our talents and depth of passion in the sport.
