you want to clean under your finger nails, you might get an infection.

I'm not too worried about that, the initial cut was done via a oily, gritty chain. If anything were to infect it, it would have been that.

Rag got caught in between the chainring and chain when cleaning my fixie, with my hand in the rag. My hand got tugged through and I managed to get all fingers but that one out of the way.

Did the same thing to my hand in a bowling machines gearing.
I was lucky tho, my hand broke one of the gears and I only got a fracture in my pinky with a few grease filled cuts
