There really is no excuse for getting lost on the Forest of Avon Timberland Trail now - the new fluorescent pink and yellow waymarkers can't be missed!
The two different colours mark out routes designed for different abilities. Novice riders are encouraged to try out the yellow routes, whereas the pink route in 50-Acre Wood is more challenging with one or two surprises.
Local volunteers have been working hard to improve the trails over the last year and there are now more route choices and better path surfaces. The local quarry, owned by Tarmac Southern Ltd is continuing to supply all of the stone required for trail repairs and over the next six months, the Bristol Trails Group will be doing further improvement work on sections of the track, particularly in 50-Acre Wood.
The Avon Timberland Trail has been popular since it was opened in 2003. Data from new monitoring equipment installed in the Summer shows the Trail is being used up to 3000 times a month!
A brand new Avon Timberland Trail leaflet has just been printed and this contains all of the updated user information. You can get hold of a free copy by calling us on 0117 9532141. New information panels are also being installed at key entrance points.
