Bontrager BarnStorm - Bike racing in a barn?

Bike racing in a barn? A cast iron guarantee of no puddles, no mud tyres and no smell of wet sheep? Sounds too good to be true? Well head down to Devon on Saturday April 22nd to experience the dawn of a new race experience.
Wheeldon Farm near Totnes is the venue for the Bontrager sponsored Barnstorm. An indoor motocross track provides a short, twisting circuit of less than a minute that will bring together riders from across the disciplines to race in an eliminator-style event mixing xc mountain biking, BMX and four cross.

So how will it work? It's a 'run what you bring' event. Check out the head cam footage for shots of a BMXer and a dude on a 'cross bike mixing it up with the MTBers. Riders will get open practice time on the circuit, followed by a couple of practice races, with 8 riders racing at any one time over two laps of the circuit. Then we hit the eliminators until we find the Barnstorm champions. All this to a thumping soundtrack courtesy of the 24-7 DJs.
The track is a spaghetti twist round the barn and while the technically gifted can get an advantage by getting some airtime, the whole course is shreddable while keeping your tyres firmly planted on the ground.
Check out some helmet camera footage of the track
here.
11.00 – Registration.
12.00 – Open practice.
13.00 – Racing begins.
The event will coincide with the launching of Fortitude, Devon’s latest skatepark, which is situated in an adjoining barn so there will be plenty of boys in baggies doing their stuff and Red Bull goodies up for grabs.
