Bluegrass Enduro Tour Rd.2 Report
11 May 2012 | By gregberryAt the end of a great day in which 276 riders competed over 4 special stages, 2100m of downhill tracks and more than 38’ of timed stages, Nicolas Lau (Cube) led the pack in front of Rémy Absalon.
The VC Ste Marie aux Mines club spoilt the competitors with their flawless organisation, unforgettable course layout and easy-going atmosphere throughout. After 4 special stages, a good meal and more than 28’ of timed stages, the participants went back up to the top for the last downhill race which would decide the day’s final ranking. Nicolas had dominated the proceedings and took the lead in front of Remy Absalon (Commencal) who had been a consistent and regular front-runner. Behind the 2 leaders came French riders Pierre Charles Georges and Remy Thirion followed by the Swiss rider Florian Golay who came 5th after beating American Ben Cruz in the sprint. In the women’s category, Claire Hassenfratz was the winner followed by Valerie Priem and Deborah Motsch who is new to the enduro circuit.
The day finished off with a rain shower, a few beers, some thrilling tales of a brilliant day’s riding and a tombola offered by all the partners and sponsors.
The Bluegrass Enduro Tour will be taking a summer break before starting up again on 9th September in Dabo.
