The Devils Challenge will be based from Llanwrtyd Wells with 55k, 85k and the monster 130k options to suit abilities of every rider in stunning surroundings.
Llanwrtyd Wells is set in a superb area for mountain biking, offering everything from gorgeous single track, long flowing downhills, root-infested technical tracks, bedrock - everything a good mountain bike route should have. The routes will include the Crychan and Irfon forests, the Mynydd Eppynt and the wild and beautiful Cambrian Mountains. Expect tough, technical downhills and single tracks. The routes this year have been designed by Red Kite Events’ Neil (ex-national downhiller and trials rider) so expect to be challenged. His brief for 2014 is to make sure the riders get back to the finish tired, but wanting to come back for more, with a feeling of “I cannot belief I just rode that”. Our aim is to push your boundaries of distance and technical ability.
Our medics will be out on course looking after you all as well the Red Kite Events broom wagon and quads.
We believe we have some of the best feed stations on any event in the UK. These will be supplied as always by The Drovers Rest restaurant in Llanwrtyd Wells – expect delicious home-made cake, flapjack, welsh cakes, and savoury options. The event is not a race and the feed stations are a big part of the event experience.
Our sponsor Muc-Off will be providing wash/lube stations at each feed station.
This event will have a mass start. There will be two feed stops for the 55k and 85k routes. The 130k route will have three feed stops.
Camping is available at Dolwen Fields in Llanwrtyd Wells - £5 per tent – camping must be pre-booked through our website. Motor Homes may be parked on the road by the camping field, if you wish to use the showers/toilets then there is a £3 charge per vehicle.
At the finish we will have a pasta meal, provided by the Drovers Rest, waiting for you.
