The Alpine Bikes Bike Demo will see over 100 bikes from leading brands including Trek, Cannondale, Orange, Yeti, Santa Cruz, Genesis, Whyte and more. Eighty half price single trip gondola tickets will be available for riders to test the bikes on the unique gondola accessed Red XC run. A trail will also be marked in the forest too for those looking for a more traditional mtb experience, with a mix of climbing and descending on the forest roads and singletrack that make up the Witches Trails. Exclusive offers will also be available over the weekend – including 15% off all bikes or framesets purchased or ordered during the weekend and 20% off any Osprey or Hope products purchased or ordered during the weekend. Nevis Bike School will offer taster sessions and guided circuits of the Nevis Red XC with gondola uplift throughout the day. These will be available on a first come first served basis and can be booked in advance by calling Nevis Range or on the day if space is avaialble. The Pinemarten cafe bar will run a BBQ from lunchtime on both days. Music will be provided on Saturday afternoon by Club DJ Simon Abberley.

Massage therapy will be available during the weekend from Mountain Therapy. Also on Saturday, round 2 of the Scottish Power Youth Mini Downhill Series takes place on the Witch's Trails in Leanachan forest. The series is all about encouraging youngsters to get involved in downhill mountain biking. The categories include under 10s, under 12s, under 14s and under 16s. So come along and join us support the World Champions of tomorrow.

Work is taking place on the World Cup downhill track to build a new 5m gap river jump, just below the wall ride, for use in competitions. Storm damaged trees near the Nevis Red XC have meant a diversion of around 100m which will include an open natural section and a section of board walk. Again, due to storm damaged trees, work is taking place on the Witch’s World Champs trail in Leanachan forest and diversions are signpost.

The World Cup downhill trail and the Nevis Red XC both reopen in May 2013. Riders are able to use the Nevis Range mountain gondola, the only one of its kind in the UK, to transport them and their bikes up the slopes of Aonach Mor to the start of these trails. Gondola uplift for MTBs is available from Saturday 4 May until mid-September. It operates on a daily basis from 10.15am – 3.45pm other than certain race, maintenance, and bad weather days. The Nevis Range website at www.nevisrange.co.uk provides the latest information about race, maintenance and bad weather days, and anyone wishing more details should phone Nevis Range on 01397 705825 during office hours.

Nevis Bike School also reopens its doors for the summer season. It offers guiding through the Witch’s Trails in Leanachan forest as well on the Nevis Red XC and the World Cup downhill. It also offers coaching sessions at all levels, from easy cross country to Demo Days
