The third edition of the highly popular Grundig gravel race is set for the weekend of 20-21st June 2026.
Alongside the headline events, the UK gravel scene is packed with regional gravel sportives, grassroots rides and forest-based events throughout the year.
Returning for a third edition this popular event has now evolved into a weekend event with children's racing and a gravel crit on Saturday, camping overnight and then the full Grundig180 race on Sunday. The Grundig180 race is a three hour (180 mins) race on Newnham's extensive fire roads, the course is approximately seven miles long so your aim is to complete sub 30 minute laps to ensure that you finish before the clock strikes three hours., any laps completed after the three hour time limit will be discounted The event will be held on the first May bank holiday and is a perfect excuse for a quick get away/ short holiday.
We are absolutley stoked to announce that the Grundig180 will also be the South West regional gravel championships, the first of it's kind in this genre and your chance to be the first ever regional gravel champion!
Please note that all (manually powered) bikes are welcome to race this event but the course will definitely favour drop handlebar bikes and the regional title will be restricted to gravel bikes. If you are riding a gravel bike, select that option below. If you are not riding a gravel bike, enter the "all other bikes" race
Newnham Park, Plymouth, has a storied history after being a host venue of the Grundig World Mountain Bike Series in the 90s. For those of you who are local, you will be aware of the continued use of Newnham for regional and national MTB XCO races and also for numerous enduro and cyclocross events, It's clear to see that this is a fantastic cycling venue.
The route in 2024 was welcomed by most as a tip of the hat to the MTB heritage of Newnham, in 2025, we made the course a little less MTB and more gravel-oriented, this proved to be popular so we will keep with the same sort of course design for 2026.
