Howies Coed y Brenin Enduro

There will be 2 route options, of around 30 and 60km, and we will use a wide variety of the trails and tracks in and around the forest, ranging from technical purpose built single-track, to forest road, back road, miners tracks, deer stalking paths with the odd stream crossing or mud pit thrown in for good measure......

In terms of technical difficulty, the most challenging sections on the 30km route will be black sections of Coed y Brenin’s superb singletrack, and on the 60km there will be a couple of step or exposed sections, but there will be warning signs, so you will know where to use caution. Basically its a route that takes in the very best of Coed Y Brenin, with lots hidden singletrack that most people, except for a few locals, and the deer control guy, will have never seen before.

We have changed the event day to a Saturday this year, so that you can make the most of the Cafe Seren set-up on Saturday after the ride. We’ve got catering from the Luff bus (Ian who used to run the excellent Drop-Off Cafe) and music from Skarumba HiFi, so there is no need to rush home, you can spin the legs out on some of the trails on Sunday, or try the Go Ape course.

When you enter the event you can choose the 30 or 60 km option, but don't worry, we wont hold you to that, you can choose which route to take on the day, right up to the point where the 2 routes split, at about 26km. If your legs are still attached to your body at that point go left for the full 60km, there is a tough tarmac climb, but the singletrack descents that reward your efforts are truly sublime.

The event HQ will the big overflow carpark above the main centre. There is plenty of space there for camper vans, and the showers will be open in the visitor centre.

There are campsites and lots of bunkhouse and B&B accommodation nearby. The closest being Cae Gwyn Farm, Trawsfynydd log cabins and Ferndale cottages.

We will be printing a limited edition howies event T-shirt which you can order when you enter, and all finishers will receive the now traditional event mug.
