The annual Air Maiden Freeride Event at Glentress attracts around 50 women from around the UK, all looking for a rare opportunity to be coached by qualified and experienced coaches and reach their potential as a rider.
While the event offers a chance to ride with, and learn from, some of the UK's most talented riders, there's also a focus on having fun with like-minded female riders of all standards in a relaxed and supportive environment.
The event's coaching sessions cater for riders of intermediate level and above, and all that's needed is a mountain bike, a personal checklist of challenges you'd like to overcome, from jumps and drops to skinnies and berms, and a healthy dose of enthusiasm.
The coaching is then followed by a chance to put everything you've learned into practice in the:
- Pump track challenge
- Jump jam on a purpose-built kicker, and
- Fun freeride competition.
There are some great prizes up for grabs from our sponsors and a chance to swap stories at the Saturday night social that includes films, guest speakers and BBQ.
It's a hugely successful event thanks to its focus on helping women push themselves beyond their comfort zone - in fact, every year almost every Maiden attempts, and nails, the event's purpose-built trick jump in what is always a grande finale to a fantastic weekend.
