Aber Cycle Festival brings downhill mountain biking to Constitution Hill on the seafront, which promises to be one of the most quirky downhill courses in the UK.
With its Funicular railway providing the perfect automatic ‘uplift’ facility for the competitors, and its twisty tracks and wooden bridges it’s almost as if ‘Consti’ was designed as a downhill MTB course!
Some of the UK’s best downhillers will compete all day on Saturday, using the morning as practice with the main competition in the afternoon providing a full days entertainment for spectators. Each rider will be timed on their descent run from top to bottom, with the rider achieving the fastest race run being declared the winner – just like skiing!
The Consti Café is an event sponsor and they will be open for business throughout the event providing breakfasts, lunch, teas and coffees all day. Regular visitors to Consti will still have full access to the café and other facilities on the hill.
The north promenade will host the finish line of the race course and so come down and experience the ‘pit lane’ atmosphere of a major mountain bike event, where you will see team mechanics working on machines, our expo partners displaying their stalls and also the event commentary team who will be providing race updates and rider interviews throughout the day.
