About The Roost Merthyr Tydfil

The Roost is a small glamping site with comfy cabins and facilities where you can let the outside in. Our location and set up are perfect for mountain bikers, hikers, cyclists and outdoor lovers. Our original cabins have separate allocated kitchens and shower rooms and we have one cabin with an ensuite and kitchenette.

Book direct for the best rates and book 3+ nights to save 10%. If we are required to close by the Welsh Government, you will have the option to postpone or receive a refund on your booking.

The Roost has been created to provide the perfect base for lovers of the great outdoors. We’re in the heart of the Welsh Valleys, minutes from BikePark Wales (by bike or car), on the Taff Trail (cycle route 8) and on the edge of the Brecon Beacons (Pen y Fan is a 20 minute drive away) plus Cardiff is just 45 minutes away.

Our warm, cosy cabins sleep two adults and two children. They have comfy, big (4ft) bunk beds (beds are spacious for 1, cosy for 2). Our original cabins have in-cabin storage porches where you can hang up bikes and stash your gear. They have separate, allocated kitchens and shower rooms. Our ensuite cabin has a kitchenette and separate lockable bike store.

“This place is an amazing affordable option for people who love hiking or riding bikes. The accommodations are great and well thought out. Couldn’t recommend it more!”

The inside-outside kitchens are kitted out with all the essentials. There are BBQs and the village has a handful of takeaways so, whether you want to cook or not, we’ve got you covered. The shower rooms have lovely hot showers, loos that flush with rainwater and all the essentials. The hiker, biker and dog friendly site also has a drying room, bike wash, secure gated parking and Wi-Fi.

“The facilities there were excellent – bike storage in your cabin, drying room, great showers and a well appointed kitchen.”

The Roost sits above the village of Troedyrhiw which has a train station (connecting to Merthyr Tydfil, Barry Island, Bridgend and Cardiff) and local amenities.

“A little gem, nestled in a Welsh hillside. Brand new shared facilities and the kitchen!! Best camping kitchen ever.”

The Roost Merthyr Tydfil is a Visit Wales Quality Assured Glamping Site and has been awarded the Cyclists and Walkers welcome awards.
