The new movie by Clay Porter, "The Tipping Point" had the first of 2 world premieres last night, here in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, with the second world premiere set for next Friday, April 17, in Monterey, California.
Last night saw a sold out cinema with standing room only, as many South African fans crowded to see their local hero Greg Minnaar introduce Clay Porter and the new movie. In fact, demand was so high, an unscheduled 2nd screening had to be hosted to cater for the large numbers that came out to see the documentary style movie of the 2008 UCI World Cup Downhill season, which features candid insights into the sport's main players.
Those that missed out last night will get a second chance to see the amazing movie, which according to the media and critics that attended last night, was easily the best movie yet by the 24 year old San Franciscan. "The Tipping Point" will be premiered at 8pm next Friday the 17th, during the Sea Otter Classic, in the Steinbeck Forum at the Monterey Conference Center, One Portola Plaza, Monterey.
Tickets will be on sale at the Fox Racing Shox booth at Sea Otter, or at the door on the night, from 7pm.
Clay Porter said last night: "It's pretty amazing to be premiering a movie in South Africa. I remember at school choosing to do a project on sport in South Africa, focusing at the time on my main heros in South African sport, Greg Minnaar and Andrew Neethling. Here I am years later premiering a movie in front of Greg and Andrew, their families, friends and fans. It's pretty exciting, and a huge relief to get the movie done. I so stoked on it, the movie just came together so well, I feel this is clearly my finest work to date."
A huge thanks to the progressive sponsors that allowed Clay to bring this movie to the fans: Major Sponsors Fox Racing Shox, adidas eyewear, and Industry Sponsors Santa Cruz Bicycles, Intense Cycles, decline magazine, e*thirteen and Troy Lee Designs.
