Ticket2RideBC, Whistler's number 1 mountain bike holiday providers have teamed up with Si Paton's Descent-Gear.com online store to produce a soon to be successful race team for the 2007 downhill season. For 2007, the team will have full support from sponsors including: Giant Bikes, Maxxis Tyres, Hayes Brakes and Sun Ringle Hubs and Rims. Alongside this, the partnership with DH specialists Descent-Gear.com ensures that the racers will be well equipped with the latest and greatest gear from the likes of Troy Lee, Spy, Funn, SRAM and RockShox. In the UK, the five-strong squad will be contesting all the National and Regional races in the Expert, Master and Veteran categories. While abroad, the younger members of the team will be chasing some Maxxis Cup rounds with the potential of a World Cup or two with the more experienced members of the squad heading out to France for the World Masters Championships. The 2007 Ticket2RideBC/Descent-Gear.com Team riders are: Steve Felstead Vets Flying the T2R/DG flag as captain organised - Steve will be contesting all rounds of the SDA and NPS series with a view to retaining his current title of Scottish DH Champion! Seb Ramsay Vets Have recently entered the realm of the 'ol fart'...our ex-flying Paton whopping media whore will be looking to make his presence felt in the pension queue. Seb had a great season last year mixing in the masters with some fine top 3 results in the SDA and Midlands series, so watch out Mr Felstead. Lynda Davies Female Vets Lynda is our resident female rapido. Last year she proceeded to whip most of the women racers who were less than half her age! On a new pimp bike for the 2007 season (probably about ½ tonne lighter than her previous 1972 Kona) - we imagine that she'll again be a hot contender for the NPS and MSS female Vet top podium position. Si Parkinson Expert Si didn't have the best 2006 season. Started off by a fairly impressive ground-butt at the 1st winter Midlands Series race during a little show boating, followed swiftly by an even more impressive Whistler training holiday crash which left him off the bike for a good slice of the summer season. We're hoping that after a less traumatic winter off, he's going to be fine fettle for the upcoming 2007 and get back to previous World Cup form. Matt Parkinson Expert Matt is mental - on a bike at least. After a storming 2006 season including a 1st at the SDA Fort William round, for 2007 he's Expert bound. He's been training hard all winter with plenty of gym work so we'll all expecting great things from him this season. If he's manages to stay about his Glory this season, then he could be a guy to watch (he also wears girls jeans so please do give him some deserved grief if you see him). The team will get the chance to make the most of the unique Ticket2Ridebc riders' centre and facilities when they travel out to Whistler for training weeks earlier in the season, not to mention some serious DH practise care of the Bike Park. Ticket2RideBC boss Scott Lanzi explained: "It's great that the team has remained unchanged for the 2007 season. We couldn't ask for a better bunch of riders, people or ambassadors for T2R. They're all a good laugh, don't take themselves too seriously and have all been posting some great results. Having Si Paton, the face of DH in the UK on board is an enormous bonus and will guarantee us even more exposure in the ever growing DH fraternity". Descent-Gear.com's Si Paton says, "We only stock the top brands and hence only partner with the best there is. If you are off to Whistler in Canada then Ticket2RideBC.com are the boys as I truly found out during the Summer of 2006. The Ticket2RideBC/Descent-Gear Team will fly the flag well in 2007, we wish them a successful season and have no doubt they'll be seen on a podium near you soon!" www.ticket2ridebc.com www.descent-gear.com www.descent-world.co.uk
