Roger Rinderknecht, second of the 4X World Championships 2008, starts his mountain bike season 2009 with an fourth place at the UCI World Cup in Pietermartizburg, South Africa.
During the trainings in South Africa, Roger Rinderknecht made his plans for the 09 season public: "This year I am going to do all the 4X World Cups. I will focus again more on the mountain bike circuit this year, since BMX Olympics from last year are over, I am going to take the World cups now." Please take a look on

Pietermartizburg’s UCI 4X track was the first one to be handled and very challenging at the same time: over 800 meters distance, a very hard surface, spiced up with sections featuring stones, rocks and logs, made the track long, fast and technical.
After a tie with Cedric Gracia on first place in the quarterfinals, a photo finish with Romain Saladini in the semifinals showed that Roger got second right behind Jared Graves and had made his way into the finals.
But the 28 years old from Switzerland had a bit of bad luck in his last run. Jared Graves and Michael Prokop sprinted for the lead right after the start, Roger in third, Rafael Alvarez in fourth position. Unfortunately Roger got a flat tire and he had to let his competitors pass. But The GT team rider stays positive: "It was great to be in the finals at my first UCI World Cup after almost a year and a half. The flat tire was a bit of bad luck, but nothing too bad, the season has only started right now. I am really looking forward to go for it at the upcoming 4X World Cups!"
