The European premiere of the NWD 8 – Smack Down attracted hundreds of freeride loving people from all over Europe. The “movie stars” Fabien Barel, Cedric Gracia, Grant Fielder and Mavic-Rider Ben Boyko came to the SMACK DOWN premiere themselves and celebrated this fabulous evening together with the enthused spectators. After a short interview of the present pro-riders, which wore wrestling masks just like in their intros of NWD8, the longed for start of SMACK DOWN had come. When the movie began, 400 heads eye-balled either the big screen or one of the seven Plasmas at the La Reserve Club in St. Raphael. From the very first part, which was Andreu Lacondeguy`s one, the people were stoked by the hardcore freeride action. Andreu`s huge Superman Backflips and Flipwhips with a lot of airtime provided the first loud screams in the audience. During the parts of Fabien Barel, Cedric Gracia, Lluis Lacondeguy, Darren Berrecloth, Kyle Strait, Jeff Lenosky, Robbie Bourdon, Wayne Goss, Wade Simmons and Ben Boyko the spectators became louder and louder. The noise level raised during the movie till the complete club was just in a mixture of pure sizzling vibes and rage. Especially Boyko’s final part was amazing and showed that he worked hard on his NWD segment. The Canadian Crankworx winner was glad to be in France for his first European premiere party and of course being one of the main guys of the movie, he had to have a few cheers and drinks with different fans. The donation of various Mavic shirts and caps after the movie screening itself of course didn’t change the atmosphere within the club and provided a fast crossover to the after party. The time followed that night can only be described as unrestrained and wild. The party went on till the early morning hours. The pro- riders also stayed till late and obviously had a good time. Cedric Gracia said: “The location, the movie and the atmosphere were just great, so I stayed longer than I wanted to, having to be at the Commencal booth the next day and celebrating my own party the next night in the same location. That in fact was a wonderful, but exhausting weekend.” The Roc d´Azur festival, which is probably the biggest one in Europe, will form the frame work for the European Premiere of the New World Disorder 9 next year again. So be there or be square.
