NWD8 premieres in Germany generated a huge support for Tara and Stephen
During the German New World Disorder 8 "Smack Down" premieres in Munich and Cologne a total of 20.732 Euros had been raised. Tara Llanes (www.tarallanesroadtorecovery.com) and Stephen Murray (www.stephenmurrayfamilyfund.com) can look forward to a real nice pre Christmas present: the two former Bike-Pros will obtain 15.000 Dollars each! The premieres went just great. Like the years before, the atmosphere during the screenings was a combination of thrill and chill. The after-parties did rock hard like they always do. But this year the charity aspect took a center stage, too. Tara Llanes and Stephen Murray suffered spinal cord injuries this year. To support these outstanding professional riders, money was collected in various ways. First there were two auctions to their benefit in Munich and Cologne. Kona, Mavic, Camelbak, Fizik, Oakley, Andreu Lacondeguy, Timo Pritzel, Hans "No Way" Rey, Cedric Gracia and Steve Peat made a lot of bike stuff available. Many thanks for that, like to Red Bull and SRAM for spending decent amounts during the auctions. These two auctions gathered over 16.845 Euros or about 25.000 US Dollars. Gains from selling posters, other donations and Nissan's extraordinary support have to be added, too. The Japanese car company, which is well-known for their great range of 4x4 vehicles (Nissan launched this year their urban SUV – the Qashqai) puts half of the entire entrance-fees that were taken in Munich and Cologne in addition on top. This money like the other income goes in equal parts into both funds of the injured athletes. Overall an amount of 20.732 Euros, or 30.394,75 US Dollars, will be split up and transcribed to Tara & Stephen. Everybody concerned, the sponsors, the donators, the bidders and the other pros do wish Tara and Stephen all the best. We all hope that the collected money helps them on their way to a complete regeneration. Hans Rey said it in a perfect way: "I'm glad being able to support Tara and Stephen. You know, we all share the same passion, enjoy the same freedom, but also take the same high risks. Such bad accidents, like the ones of Tara and Stephen, could have happened to everyone of us. No question, we have to stick together in the hard times."
