LOCALS: Richard "Sprungloaded" Mahon - Devinci Wilson XP

27 June 2013  |

In this weeks LOCALS we catch up with Mr Sprungloaded himself Richard Mahon who rides a Devinci Wilson XP that unsurprisingly runs one of his own Ti. springs!

In our weekly feature, we are getting out and about on the trails to meet everyday locals and find out a bit more about them and their bikes.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Name:  Richard Mahon
Age: 38
Location: Newton Abbot
Bike: Devinci Wilson 2011 XP
Interesting fact about yourself: I have 2 kids, I'm a tree surgeon and I run Sprungloaded!

How long have you been riding?
On and off for years but I only got into the downhill scene about 18 months ago.

How often do you ride?
I try and get out and about every couple of weeks.

What bike are you currently riding and talk us through your set up?
Pretty much stock as it comes but i've changed a few little bits and bobs over. It's got Elixir 7 brakes with a Code front pot and a 7 rear. The 2013 Shimano Zee rear mech with the all important clutch! I also run one of my own Ti Springs and a prototype pedal that I'm looking at stocking at some point in the future aswell.

Locals

What types of riding do you normally do?
I only ride downhill really!

What was the last new bit of gear on your bike?
It was the spring and the pedals which both went on at the end of last week!

What are your local trails?
I would say my local trails are Haldon Cafe side!

What's your favourite part on your bike?
My favourite part? It's gotta be my Ti. spring!

What's the next upgrade you have planned for the bike?
Well I have 5 or 6 different sets of pedals coming through as prototypes which I'll be testing. I'm looking to set up a distribution line in pedals, headsets etc.

What other bikes do you own?
Unfortunately not! Just the Wilson!

Any last words for us?
I've been really happy with all the support that everyone including MoreDirt's given me! It's been a fantastic ride setting up Sprungloaded and I've met some great people. It's amazing to be part of such a huge and fun scene down here in the South West and even Nationally!
