LOCALS: Jason Dalling - Ironhorse Sunday WC
21 March 2013 | By AngusMcIntoshIn our weekly feature, we are getting out and about on the trails to meet everyday locals and find out a bit more about them and their bikes.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Name: Jason Dalling
Age:19
Location: Braunton, North Devon
Job:Sales Assistant at Trespass and Seasonal Assistant at Tarka Trail Cycle Hire
Bike: IronHorse Sunday WC 2009
Interesting fact about yourself: Umm…. I studied Plumbing at college for 2 years. Passed the course but half way through the 2nd year changed my mind and didn’t want to be a Plumber anymore, even though its good money and I could do with that right now! I would rather work with bikes and do a job that I enjoy.
How long have you been riding?
I’ve been riding about 5 years now.
How often do you ride?
I usually get out on my DH bike twice a week and try to get out on my XC bike twice a week too.
What bike are you currently riding and talk us through your set up?
I ride an IronHorse Sunday WC 2009 with Rock Shox Boxxer 2012 RC forks & Rock Shox Vivid 5.1 rear shock. I like to run a fairly stiff sus setup. I'm rolling with Mavic 721 rims on Hope Pro 2 hubs, and usually Wetscreams due to the unlucky UK weather! When the sun gets out, I get on the Minions. I use Sram X9 drive, and Deity bars, stem and grips along with Avid code brakes. Most of the time I run clipped in.
What types of riding do you normally do?
I mostly ride Downhill but also XC and All Mountain riding too.
What was the last new bit of gear on your bike?
Last new bit of gear was an order I placed with Deity Components which consisted of new bars, stem, grips, seat and seat clamp.
What are your local trails?
My local tracks are near Braunton, about a 20 minute ride up the road from my house.
What's your favourite part on your bike?
Has to be the Deity Blacklabel bars! They look and feel awesome!
Next upgrade planned for the bike??
Next upgrade will be a Ti spring I’ve got on order from Sprungloaded.
What other bikes do you own?
I also own a Kona Coil air.
Any last words for us?
Yeah, I’d like to thank Deity Components for the support and putting me on their 2013 Grassroots Programme, Thanks guys! And also like to thank Mike Parker and Todd Dymond of Bike It Barnstaple for helping me out with my bike over the years. Can’t forget Mum and Dad too, for taking me to races over the last few years.
