LOCALS: Adam Lock - Specialized Demo 8
21 February 2013 | By AngusMcIntoshIn our weekly feature, we are getting out and about on the trails to meet everyday locals and find out a bit more about them and their bikes.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Name: Adam Lock
Age:21
Location:Seaton, Cornwall
Bike: Specialized Demo 8
How long have you been riding?
I’ve been riding for 10 years.
How often do you ride?
As much as I can really... I try and get out every day even if its just on the roadbike or going to the park and messing around on the hardtail.
What bike are you currently riding and talk us through your set up?
There’s nothing particularly special on it but I run Boxxer forks as I don’t think Fox forks really work on the Demo. I run the forks with a fairly stiff set up. I’m running the brand new Shimano Saint brakes which are pretty good for stopping…
I run Funn bars and stem in the cockpit and a Full Saint Drivetrain. In the wheel department I use Mavic rims on Hope Pro 2 Hubs.
What types of riding do you normally do?
I ride abit of everything... Downhill, but not so much in the winter. I rides lots of XC and I enjoy getting out and about on the roadbike a couple of times a week in my lycra.
What was the last new bit of gear on your bike?
The new Saint brakes were the last addition to this one.
What are your local trails?
My local trails are about a mile away from where I live in Seaton.
What's your favourite part on your bike?
It's hard to pick one... My favourite part is probably the bike as a whole. I have it all set up how and want and it’s running sweet.
What's the next upgrade you have planned for the bike?
Nothing at the moment but I may try a slightly stiffer spring.
What other bikes do you own?
I have a Specialized Enduro, A Specialized P2 and a Giant OCR road bike.
Any last words for us?
I would like to thank Certini bicycles for sorting out all my bikes even at the last minute before races.
I’d also like to thank my Mum for keeping my kit clean and putting up with me fixing my bike in the kitchen.
Cheers Adam
