Kona White Style - Leogang

The second annual Kona White Style contest in Leogang is less than a month away, with twenty top riders on the invite list. The evening of Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 will showcase Europe's best freeriders in the Leogang city center, melting the snow and ice with their hottest new tricks! The Kona White Style event is the winter counterpart to dirt jump contests in summer – which means great mountain bike freeride action on snow. For the first time, the British Kona Clump rider Grant Fielder will be designing the White Style course, building snowy jumps and gaps on a downhill slope. This year’s event will move from last year's location at the top of the mountain near the Asitzmuldenbahn, down to the city center of Leogang, right at the Schantei lift station. The event format will allow each of the twenty riders to have two qualifying runs to make the cut for the finals. These runs will take place on Saturday afternoon. Saturday night at 8.30pm, the top ten riders will then complete two final runs to determine the final standings. The riders will be competing for 3,000 euros in prize money. Invited riders for the event are as follows: Andreu Lacondeguy, Lluis Lacondeguy, Chris Smith, Lance McDermott, Grant Fielder, Richard Gasperotti, Pascal Breitenstein, Mischa Breitenstein, Amir Kabbani, Joscha Forstreuter, Niki Leitner, Rob J, Damjan Siriski Dan Atherton, Nicolas Duyé, Gee Atherton, Andi Wittmann, Michal Marosi, Taulan Dernbach and Kamil Tartakovic. Be there when the best freeride mountain bikers are riding on snow at this winter expression session. It will certainly be interesting to see who can transfer their skills to the cold, snowy terrain. To warm up after the snow, the contest will be followed by a Leogang after-contest party, which will definitely heat up the crowds. 2007 will be a great year to visit Leogang, Austria - not only for the Kona White Style in February. The legendary Out of Bounds weekend will take place from June 7th – 10th and the IXS Cup from June 30th – July 1st, thus the resort will be a happening place to be, no matter what season you choose to visit.
