Hundreds of fans celebrated the NWD8 "Smack Down" premiere in Cologne

Last Saturday, the whole Aposteln-street in Cologne was crowded. One week after the German premiere in Munich, masses of people had come to see the eighth episode of New World Disorder. Over 800 people enjoyed the screening at the Gloria Theatre. A second highlight this evening was an auction of bike stuff for the benefit of Stephen Murray (www.stephenmurrayfamilyfund.com) and Tara Llanes (www.tarallanesroadtorecovery.com). Andreu and Lluis Lacondeguy showed up as special guests and pushed the after party a level higher. The supporting movie – a highlight cut of the Nissan Qashqai Challenge, the first urban freeride mountain bike series ever – was followed by the auction for the benefit of Tara and Stephen, two athletes that suffered spinal cord injuries this year. In this connection, Elmar Keineke from SRAM, who purchased Steve Peat’s clothing gear for a decent amount, has to be mentioned. Great thanks to Steve Peat (Troy Lee/Royal Racing gear), Hans Rey (GT frame), Timo Pritzel (Oakley gear) and Andreu Lacondeguy (KONA bike) for contributing their stuff, and of course to the sponsors of the premiere party: Kona, Nissan, fi’zi:k, Camelbak, Mavic & Mountainbike Rider Magazine. Nissan supports Tara and Stephen in a special way. The Japanese car company puts half of the entire entrance-fees that were taken in Cologne in addition on top. This money goes immediately in equal parts into both funds of the injured athletes. Due to the auctions in Munich and Cologne, an amount of 15.500 Euros has been raised and will be transferred to Tara’s and Stephen’s funds. But that’s not all. Visitors’ donations, revenues from the poster sale and a part of the entry fees have to be added, too. The total amount, which is given to Tara and Stephen, will be announced in the near future. The full amount will also include the profits from auctioning the fi’zi:k Flash saddle and the Kona Cowan DS Bike from Andreu Lacondeguy. This stuff didn’t find a buyer in Cologne, so it is auctioned on ebay.de (incl. international shipment). Most of the people were just stoked and gave big respect to the riders by screaming and bellowing. The good vibes did last and the sizzling beats from the Discodogs provided a long party night. Special guest Andreu Lacondeguy said during the premiere party: “Nice to be here again. And this year I am really happy with my segment! The people went just crazy watching the movie and I like seeing myself on a screen that is so huge. But now it is time for some Rock n Roll baby, Rock n Roll!!! So watch out for the German New Word Disorder release tour next year. The ninth episode of NWD will rock the clubs again.
