The Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup 2012 returns to the Scottish Highlands on 9th and 10th June 2012 following an epic battle on the slopes of Aonach Mor at the 2011 event.
Over the weekend there will be two events for both men and women, featuring 300 riders from more than 25 countries.
Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup
The climax of the weekend is the Downhill, which sees competitors charge down the slopes of Aonach Mor, descending 525m in 2.6km on a course that is recognised as one of the toughest in the world.
There is likely to be an incredible collection of 7 current and former British World Champions competing in 2012, demonstrating the depth of UK talent in the most exciting and challenging cycling discipline. Twenty-two year-old reigning World Champion, Danny Hart will be looking to build on his outstanding 2011 season as he faces the challenge from the World's best in Fort William.

This list of British World Champion title-holders, all competing together, must rank Downhill Mountain Biking as one of the most successful UK sporting achievements.
Danny Hart - 2011 World Champion
Manon Carpenter - 2011 Junior World Champion
Tracy Moseley - 2010 World Champion
Steve Peat - 2009 World Champion
Gee Atherton - 2008 World Champion
Rachel Atherton - 2008 World Champion
Ruaridh Cunningham - 2007 Junior World Champion
Such strength and depth will guarantee another big crowd determined to cheer their heroes on to more World Cup success.
4X - World Series
The gladiatorial 4X is a head to head knock-out competition on a short course with huge jumps, berms and the notorious Rock Garden. Four riders start and the first two finishers from each heat progress to the next round.
Following a complete remodel of the track and some of the best 4X racing Fort William has witnessed in its ten years of World Cup and World Championship hosting, Fort William was named the UCI Best Four Cross World Cup event of 2011.
No longer a UCI World Cup discipline Fort William will play host to a round of the brand new 4X World Series tour, which will also take in a number of established World Cup venues (Val di Sole and Houffalize) and established 4X races in Poland plus other venues to be confirmed.
