Exciting new mountain bike trails coming to Llanfyllin!
11 July 2025 | By billy1979Llanfyllin is set to welcome an exciting new development with the launch of a purpose-built bike trail project in Llwyn Woods, behind Llanfyllin school.
The trails, designed with children and beginners in mind, will offer a skills area and three graded routes: Green, Blue, and Red. They will be free to use through a community-run membership scheme, encouraging access to a fun, active cycling environment. Funding support by Welsh Cycling recognises their value in promoting healthy outdoor lifestyles.
With Llanfyllin Town Council having secured the lease of Llwyn Woods from Powys County Council, the project will be managed and maintained by Llanfyllin Community Initiative (LCI), ensuring long-term sustainability and community involvement.
Site preparation is set to begin soon, with the project aiming to be completed this year. LCI is reaching out to local businesses and community members for support. Contributions in the form of equipment, materials, or services will help make the most of available funding and bring this ambitious vision to life. We are particularly looking for support with; Machinery (Excavators, dumpers, power barrows), Surfacing materials (Hardcore, MOT Type 1), Building supplies (Concrete, timber, roofing, fixings), Signage (Materials and printing).
Whether through donations or favourable pricing, your help can go a long way in making this project a success for the whole community. If you or your business would like to support this exciting initiative - or if you have ideas to share - please get in touch with us at Llanfyllin Community Initiative: [email protected]
Let’s build something great together for Llanfyllin!
