2XC 2012 - CrossCountry MTB Racing in the South West

The Mid Devon Cycle Club is pleased to announce a 6 race mountain bike series, 2XC 2012. The races will run monthly from April to September catering for all riders from beginners to experts. Four races will be on Wednesday evenings and two held at weekends including the series finale to be held at a brand new Dartmoor venue.

Each round will feature a Go Ride race for U12s, a 40 minute race for Sport, Super/Grand Veterans, Juniors and under 16's and a 1 hour race for Senior, Masters and Veteran categories. The purpose built cycle trails at Haldon Forest will be used for two rounds of the series but three new venues have been found as well. Farm land and woods feature at the Wheeldon Farm and South Dartmoor College courses, and in the case of Wheeldon Farm, an indoor motor cross circuit should make for a unique riding experience.

The first weekend round on Sunday 29th of July will be held as part of the Totnes Show. The race entry fee for adults will include entry to the show so bring the family and make a day of it.

The final round of the series will be held on Saturday 15th September at the Heatree Outdoor Activity Centre near Manaton. This venue has never been used before and offers some excellent woody single track hidden away on the top of Dartmoor.

In the last few years a healthy number of cross country events has been appearing in the calendar in the south west of england. 2XC 2012 adds to the existing Soggy Bottom and Fully Sussed races, and builds on the success of last years Haldon Evening Series. The group behind the 2XC races is comprised of the Mid Devon Cycling Club, Exeter Mountain Bike Club and individuals looking to promote XC racing at a grass roots level.

Entry fees for the Totnes show round are still to be confirmed but all other rounds will be £12 for adults, £7 for Juniors, £3 for Under 16s and £1 for U12s.

Race Dates: (U12 is under 12 years, Race 1 is for Sport, Super/Grand Veterans, Juniors and under 16's then Race 2 is for Senior, Masters and Veteran)
