You are probably right about the med frame, because the 2011 surge frame is shorter than the 2010 and this years has adjustable drop outs to shorten the overall wheelbase by upto 16mm. It doesn't sound a lot, but it makes a big difference. Both of my lads have this years large frames (16") and I can comfortably ride them myself, I am just under 6'3" if that helps you. Have a look at the 2011 surge geometry, It will make sense of what I have just said (hopefully!) lol...
You can't be any fairer with your offer, I take it he's not replied to you over it? It wouldn't surprise me if he hasn't taken the cap of the fork lower to get that pool.
Alright mate, only just seen the message. Looks dodgy to me, ive burst seels a few times but never seen oil sat underneath like that. What are you doing about it?
Mate, personally, I would go and get your bike back and give him his money back. It doesn't look right, in my experience, it wouldn't be all over the floor like that, it would just be the stantion coated in oil.
Its official... There is no headset out there that will fit our headtube, to reduce to the Standard 11/8 steerer. I've had one machined now and its been dilivered tomoz!.. I'll let you know how things if you want.. If it goes to plan i'll take a few pictures for you to see.
I've already purchased some 40's and as you may know there steerers only come with the standard 11/8.. Im looking at this company who makes headsets called www.workscomponents.co.uk Emailed them and they will be able to make me a headset to fit.. But it all seems too much hasel as i'd like to know i could get a headset as a "off the shelf" job!.. so frustrated. lol
Its not the internal length of the cups thats the problem... its the internal diamitier of the top headtube.. There is no headset for sale to fit my frames headtube.. Its confusing at the best of the times and this is even worse.
Thats right... all I can find is a 56mm lower cups... No one makes the 56mm size top cup we need for our frame.. so if you wanted to run 11/8 forks like me, you would struggle to find a headset too.. I've tried speaking to ATB sales but they dont deal with the puplic and my local bike shops been no help.. (bad times) I will try bikeradar and see what info I can get then.. But, what I have found is, people dont understand as there isnt another frame like ours with a HUGE headtube diamiter. They say its a traditional 1.5 but its not. Grrr..
I suppose you haven't come to the same road as me yet... there is no 56mm size headset top and bottom cups on the market!... Im looking at getting one made to fit as NO local bike shops can help me out!.. If you speak to anyone who has the same problem, be sure to give me a nudge!?!
Kind Regards
Hey.. Not sure if you know.. but what exact size is your headset top and bottom cup?.. Do you know?.. I've whiped mine out and it measures 56mm top and bottom cups and there is not a reducer headset on the market I can find, that will fit into my frame to house a 11/8 steerer.. (im changing forks to tripple clamps you see)
Fair play to you mate.
Now I have the kids new bikes built, with the exception of some new forks and lighter wheels (in due course) I am starting to save for a Transition Covert frame. I was going to do it a while ago, but I did'nt expect my oldest lad to grow out of his Trek so quickly! Never mind...
A TR250 would be a nice machine.
However, the Soda looks to be more the style of a Bottlerocket? All I would say, is the NS frames are nicely made, but the Transitions are just that bit better. I guess the price difference reflects that too.
Hi mate,
I would reply to the 800 bid a let him/her know that they can have it for 900. you never know, they might go for it as it does look to be a very nice example.

Have you ordered yourself a steed yet?

Thats great news mate! I cant believe how much oil leaked out of those forks! Anyway, what are your purchase plans then?

Yeah I like the look of the Soda, but I don't know when they are going to launch it. Everything that I have seen of it upto now is pre-production.
wythall1 wrote on 11 August 2011 09:56
Thats good.. I guess just a question of being a little patient to get the be money that you can.
