I see you have had a few offers on eBay, have any of them been half sensible?

Hi Mate, The core will certainly make a great xc/trail bike and will definately be strong enough for some free ride. There is a multitude of other options, but I would go with a steel bike. I have got those Surges all but finished, I will have some pics on my profile later, have a look...

Fair play to you mate, you have to follow your heart when it comes down to choosing a bike, but I am just bothered by the weight of them. Great bikes non the less.

I have just being looking at the NS Web site, those specs are correct, the lime green one which has the chain guide is the most expensive only has juicy 3 brakes! the other two have cable brakes. those specs are pretty crap really, they are seriously heavy! I dont know if it is the colours you like, but serioulsy mate, get a surge frame and build your own, it will be cheaper than buying a Core and having to change all of the pars on it, plus you can adjust the chainstay length.

Hi Mate, I love the look of the Core2, but it is seriously heavy (16.9Kg) and it has cable disc brakes! a grand is a lot of money for the spec really. Although the forks are excellent, they weigh around 2.6kg. As for the weight of the frame, it is only a 200 or 300g heavier that the Santa Cruz! And for that type of bike for aggressive trail riding there is no substitute for the feel of a steel frame, you have to ride one to appreciate how good it is.

Sorry, I forgot to say: The NS Core with the standard spec are quite heavy, the cheaper one weighs in at about 16kg!! The frame weighs about 2.7kg which is the same a the frame of my Transition, which fully built as on my profile is under 11kg! and the too is also Cromo.

Hi there mate, the NS Core is basically a 2010 Surge sold as a complete bike. The 2011 Surge has adjustable chainstays and the frames are very slightly smaller and shorter than the 2010 ones, so the handling should be a bit better and be more fun to ride. The NS Cores are a bargain from CRC at the moment, but I wasn't overly impressed with the specs. If you have the means, I would suggest buying a 2011 Surge frame and building one.

Dont worry, its gets muddy as I ride HarD all the time.. on the jump you commeneted on I land after the wooden "short out" option onto a transition thats not pictured. you have to put these bikes through what the claim to hold up to! ha ha

Oh, btw.. did you ask if you get a further 3 years waranty on the replacement frame? I think I read somewhere you could register your frame to get lifetime warranty when you purchase it.. do you know anything about this/ done anything?

Yup, I still have my pushed roco shock, long story about that tho! I think the shop were gutted they made no money from me but ATB said you have to deal with a Marin dealer. Either way im stoked with the new frame.. Im still building the frame at the min, got a few new parts on order "seat post, helicoptor tape, new goodridge gear hose (because the new frame has a straight run unlike the 7.2) but i'll take some pictures soon so you can check it out!

They gave me a White 7.8 frame same as you with a vivid 4.1 rear shock ** sorry for miss spelling bellow **

They gave me a White 7.2 frame same as you with an Avid 4.1 rear shock, intergrated headset and new drop outs but not with the Maxel Axel. The only problem I have now is finding the correct size seat post but its proving harder than i first thought! I found that a 400 length seat post wont go all the way down too, it must be due to the seat tube bowing forward. ATB are calling me back on Monday, so im hoping for some more info on this as there website reads 31.6 "witch we both know is incorect". (Stoked with the new frame tho, but GUTTED about the colour to say the least)

yeah.. It took less than a week for them to send me a new frame.. also with new shock, headset but no seat post so im trying to locate one but the measurements are wrong on the Marin website. so its a 30.9 but what is the maximum length you can have? i just tried to put a 30.9/410 Thomson Elite seat post in but it doesnt go all the way down!!? what is the length in yours?

Hey.. After checking out your page and seeing you cracked your frame I gave mine a good look at it had cracked in the exact same place! Gutted to say the least but i have been issued with a new frame. what seat post are you running, not your original 7.2 quake 31.6?.. On Marin website it states its a 31.6 but it just isnt so is wrong on the website!. when you had your replacement, what came with it?
