Review:
There are a couple of different route guides available in the Barn Cafe (approx £1 each) that contain 3-4 different routes for varying abilities and fitness levels.
I completed the "Shoreline pootle" route with the missus. It was easy graded and was about 3 miles with no major climbs. It was a good introduction to off-road biking with one short but steep descent that was a good intro to controlling speed.
The other route "Reservoir ramble" rated medium, is clocked at 7 miles and i tried this one alone. This meanders round the reserviors and then takes you up near the pike, so uphill climbs featured heavily mainly on very rough BW.
The 1 mile downhill section is also on very rough BW and I found it hard to get any real speed up due to the massive vibrations attempting to shatter my skeleton. It would probably have been more enjoyable on a full sus bike.

All in all Rivington has got some great XC routes and im looking forward to trying the others in the guide book.

If its DH thrills your looking for, then the Healy Nab course can be incorporated into most routes that take in the Angelzarke reservoir or you can park nearby and DH to your hearts content.
